Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial musician and singer who blends folk gospel, soul and R&B in a signature mix. She has appeared on stages all over the world, from Broadway through the Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine's title is Denise White. Though she lives in Atlanta her roots are in Chester Pennsylvania where she began her music career by singing as well as playing the piano at the church. After attending Spellman College, Atlanta she began her musical journey on the Atlanta's R&B culture. The very first track featuring her voice was called Stalk You which was a song from Japan's house 12; since then it has been remixed and is included in her set. She has also contributed her voice on the soundtrack to The Fighting Temptations. She was the keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 about serving as the director of chorus for Dreamgirls, the theatre production in Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine came to national attention during four daily performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was eventually invited to sing for the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
